For more than 25 years, Michaelangelo’s Italian Bistro has been a fixture of Noblesville, Indiana’s casual dining scene. Like many businesses functioning from the same location for decades, Michaelangelo’s owners knew they needed to update their interior finishes and equipment — as well as improve curb appeal — but they weren’t sure where to start.
To help make their bistro chic and sleek, Michaelangelo’s owners sought the help of IDEA’s 2015 Best in Show winner, Phanomen/design. After the Indianapolis-based project design team created drawings and selected finishes for the restaurant’s overhaul, three different contractors — including award-winning C.F. Jones Construction of Lebanon — were interviewed to turn those dreams into a reality.
A meeting between the restaurant owners, design team, and C.F. Jones’ lead estimator and director of business development was held to discuss the project. During the initial interview, C.F Jones’ team took the time to identify all of the client’s wants, needs and expectations. Knowing that the winning contractor would not just have to provide a competitive quote, but also build a rapport with the client, C.F. Jones’ team made sure to listen carefully and closely to Michaelangelo’s ownership team.
Shortly afterwards, follow-up interviews were set with all three competing contractors. While C.F. Jones was the final contractor of the three to be heard, the team knew it was their time to shine. During that meeting, a meticulous proposal was given to the client — in which the estimate was explained, and helpful suggestions were made that would help the client reduce construction costs.
Ultimately, the combination of a strong relationship, a competitive thorough quote and experience with restaurant construction won C.F. Jones the contract.
Throughout the remodel, Michaelangelo’s has remained open for business — which was something that was incredibly important to the bistro’s owners, but also incredibly challenging for the team at C.F. Jones. However, the strong communication between C.F. Jones’ team, the restaurant ownership, and the project design team, has allowed the work to continue as smoothly as possible.
Once the project is finished, the C.F. Jones team will have given Michaelangelo’s Italian Bistro the modern twist it needed to serve their customers well into the next quarter of a century.
